The Big Picture Story Bible is full of bright, innovative, illustrations and bold statements about God’s plan for His people in His place under His rule and blessing. You could describe this Bible as the next step up from the Beginners Bible or Toddler’s Bible and one step sideways from The Jesus Storybook Bible…
The BPSB is less than a full text Bible, definitely not a collection of Bible stories, more a friendly introduction to understanding the Bible as a whole with large print, great pictures and not too many words on each page. I would recommend this Bible for families (to read with children aged 4-8 and for older readers to read on their own) where children are familiar with Bible stories and would benefit from knowing the repercussions and relevance of how God fulfills His promises to his people.
This fabulous book would serve any small person over three because the illustrations are so welcoming and quirky, full of colour (and even drawn from above when the text is describing a “God’s eye view”.) However, don’t be lulled into thinking the reading age will be low, because the clever chapter divisions and clearly stated ideas about God will go on stretching a child’s understanding (and anyone else’s who reads it with them!).
